John is president and chief executive officer of Campbell & Associates, Inc. consulting engineers.  He joined the firm as an engineer in 1965 after four years in the U.S. Air Force.  He is a registered engineer licensed in 42 states as well as Canada.  He serves on the boards of several organizations including the State of Tennessee Workforce Development, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee and the Chattanooga State Technical Community College.  In Chattanooga, he has served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts and Junior Achievement and campaign chair of the United Way.  He is president of the Tennessee Jaycee Foundation, CSTCC Foundation and Blood Assurance, Inc.

John joined Rotary in 1976. A member of the Rotary Club of Chattanooga, John has served Rotary International as District Governor, RI training leader, and on the board of directors including a year as vice president. As well; Aide to President Wilf Wilkinson, a member of the Audit Committee, Advisor to 2008 LA Convention Committee, member 2008 International Assembly Committee, member President's Advisory Committee, and Vice Chair of the TRF Rotary Centers Major Gifts Initiative , and Chair of the 2007 Council on Legislation.

Currently the vice-chair of the Board of Trustees of The Rotary Foundation, John has received the RI Service Above Self Award and the Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service.  He and his wife, Judy, are Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation.

 

 

 

Amy Kay:

Amy is a Senior Technical Advisor for HPI/CEDPA. She has 13 years of experience working in the MENA, Gulf, and Horn of Africa regions, working for the UN, Global Fund, and NGOs focused on HIV.

In her current role, Amy contributes to the development and implementation of HPI's ‘Investing in MENA’ project, including providing technical leadership to design and implement projects with an emphasis on PLHIV engagement in the Middle East North Africa region, via training, network development, small grant implementation and community mobilization. Amy is currently the Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Technical Team Leader under HPI, coordinating a portfolio of OVC activities focusing on Military and Civilian OVC, Global Fund, Child Protection, and Public Law 109-95. She is also serving as HPI Botswana Country Manager. Previously, Amy served as a Regional Program Officer for UN Development Programme’s HIV/AIDS Regional Program in the Arab States covering 20 states in the region. She recently served as HIV Specialist on several projects for UNDP HIV Units, the Global Fund, and the UN's Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration programs in North and Southern Sudan as well as UNDP Somalia.

She is currently serving on the board of Trustees for Hope for Children, an NGO based in Ethiopia serving OVC. She conducted field work during her graduate studies on OVC resulting in thesis and publication in International Studies Quarterly, related to OVC, stigma and development communication. She earned a full Fellowship to obtain an Advanced Masters degree in International Relations and Peace and Conflict Resolution from the University of Queensland, Australia, as a Class I Rotary World Peace Fellow. In 2000, Amy was also awarded Rotary’s Ambassadorial Scholarship for Arabic studies at the American University in Cairo. During this time, she also worked for Egypt’s National Council for Women.

John T. is a Business and Personal Coach with Patriot Business Coaching, the founder of the Bald Headed Men of America, and he helped establish the local County Bank and Trust Company. He has been president of the North Carolina 4-H Honor Club and of the Carteret Chamber of Commerce and also served as chairman of the Crystal Coast Civic Center and of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolina.

John is a motivational speaker and a frequent guest of radio and television talk shows. He was a volunteer worker at Ground Zero in New York after the destruction of the World World Trade Center and on the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. Recently certified as a Salvation Army Disaster Volunteer, he spent nine months working tirelessly in Galveston, Texas assisting residents affected by Hurricane Ike.

John has served as chairman of many Rotary International committees and task forces, including Sergeant-at-Arms, Chairman of the RI Interact Committee, and Zone Coordinator, Polio Plus Eradication Committee. He participated in several Polio Eradication National Immunization Days in India and served as a committee member and Chief Sergeant-at-Arms for both the 2004 International Assembly in Anaheim, California and the 2005 Centennial Convention in Chicago, Illinois.

John is a recipient of the Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service and of its Distinguished Service Award. He has also been honored with the Rotary International Service Above Self Award.

 

 



John Smarge:


John Smarge
Naples, FL
Director-elect, Rotary International (2010-2012)

John has been a Rotarian and resident of Naples, Florida since 1981. His classification is Moving and Storage. John and his wife Cindy are Major Donors, Bequest Society Members and Paul Harris Society Members.  He served as President of The Rotary Club of Naples in 1992-93 and as District 6960 Governor in 1995-96. He is currently Rotary International Director-Elect, 2010-2012. 

Internationally, John has twice been a Delegate to the Council on Legislation and twice a Member of the RI Board of Directors Nominating Committee. Additionally, he has served as both a Rotary International Membership Coordinator and Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator. He is a regular speaker around the world at TRF and Membership Seminars and has represented the President ten times at District Conferences. 

John considers the most rewarding aspects of his many years in Rotary to be the opportunity to participate in the Polio Plus National Immunization Days in India, his medical missions to Ternopil, Ukraine and his multiple humanitarian trips to the Caribbean. 

John has received numerous awards for his Rotary Service including the Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service, the Distinguished Service Award the Rotary International Service above Self Award and was recognized in 1999 as the District 6960 Rotarian of The Decade

John and Cindy have three daughters, Jessica 24, Stephanie 21 and Amanda 15. He is a past Board Chairman of the Naples YMCA, Boy Scouts of America and Shelter for Abused Women. John has coached girl’s basketball teams for more than 12 years. In his spare time, he is a competition auto racer.
